70-year-old picture of Loughton Cinema before it became shops and flats

Loughton Cinema features prominently in the photo above of the high street in Loughton from around 1950.

This side of the road remains much the same today, except for the cinema being replaced in 1964 with shops and flats.

Back then, the shops were mainly small independents, unlike the homogenous high street of today.
