A young man was taken to hospital with a knife wound after a fight involving “groups armed with weapons” broke out on a residential road in New Cross this afternoon.
The fight took place on Amersham Road in New Cross around 3.30pm, officers with the Met Police in Lewisham said.
Images taken at the scene showed a heavy emergency services presence on the road with people looking on from behind police cordons.
The Met imposed a Section 60 dispersal order across much of Lewisham in the aftermath of the violence, and several roads in the New Cross area remained closed as officers investigated what happened.
