Zoo and Wildlife Parks in East London
If you are visiting East London and are looking for things to do or interesting days out in and around London, a trip to a Wildlife Park or Zoo is a great day out with lots to see and enjoy.
Celia Hammond was a model in the 1960s, and has since become known as a campaigner against fur and for neutering of cats to control the feral population. In 1986 she founded the Celia Hammond Animal Trust with the aim of opening a low cost neutering clinic to control the feral animal population. The Celia Hammond Animal Trust also runs a sanctuary in Brede (Nr Hastings) for animals who are not suitable to be homed for various reasons.
Mudchute Park and Farm is located in the middle of the Isle of Dogs. They are easily accessible by road from the A13 following the signs for the Isle of Dogs and then take the A1206 towards Island Gardens. Look out for the second Pier Street. Alternatively take the environmentally friendly route on the Docklands Light Railway, alighting at Mudchute station and following the long path from the Park entrance to their horse-riding arena.
